Amlag położony jest na wybrzeżu Morza Czerwonego, na długości geograficznej (14/37) i szerokości geograficznej (5/25), pomiędzy miastami Yanbu na południu i Alwaga na północy. W Amleg znajduje się wiele miejsc zawierających historyczne znaleziska. W ostatnich latach miasto rozrosło się i rozwinęło dzięki otwarciu trasy morskiej pomiędzy Dubą (w Arabii Saudyjskiej) a Sfagą (w Egipcie). U wybrzeży Amlag znajduje się wiele wysp. Najbardziej znanymi wyspami są Gabel jasan i Om sjara. Oprócz tych wysp na północ od Amlag znajduje się grupa wysepek. Ta grupa zawiera siedem wysp, a nazwa tej grupy to "Wyspy Alfoida". Jest tam również wyspa o nazwie "Ston", która leży na północ od miasta przed "Wadi aljamed". Starożytne miasto Amlag było jednym z największych miast handlowych w Arabii Saudyjskiej (po Mekce). Ale z czasem handel w tym mieście zanikł. W Umlug mieszka 38 tysięcy mieszkańców. Większość mieszkańców pracuje w rybołówstwie, rolnictwie i hodowli.

It is a commercial hub of shopping centers given the many brand name shopping centers lining its sides, as well as the finest restaurants, multiple shopping centers and lavish offices, not to mention its beauty and strategic location, divided into two sections.
