Gelegen op 1700m boven zeeniveau, kan Taif in de zomer aanvoelen als een frisse wind, en vergeleken met het vochtige Jeddah is het dat ook echt. Het zachte, gematigde klimaat is de grootste attractie. Kijk uit voor wilde bavianen langs de bergweg op weg naar de stad vanuit Jeddah. Taif is gezinsvriendelijk, met meer dan 3000 tuinparken verspreid over de stad en de omliggende gebieden; in de avond zijn de parken vol met gezinnen die een volledig avondmaal op dekens uitspreiden. Sommigen brengen sheesha mee, waardoor de nachtlucht gevuld wordt met een zoete, rokerige geur. Taif staat niet bekend om zijn restaurants, dus alles wat je nodig hebt op een markt kopen en neerstrijken voor een picknick is een geweldig alternatief. De stad is vooral populair bij bezoekers vanwege de rozen en het fruit - met name honingzoete vijgen, druiven, cactussen en granaatappels. In de zomer wordt Taif de onofficiële hoofdstad van het Koninkrijk wanneer de koning hierheen verhuist.
