Amman, door sommigen beschouwd als de culturele hoofdstad van het Midden-Oosten, is de hoofdstad van Jordanië. Er is een interessant archeologisch museum dat zeker een bezoek waard is. In de buurt bevinden zich het Romeinse theater en enkele musea met interessante collecties mozaïeken, sieraden en kostuums. Een wandeling door de stad voert je langs moskeeën en een verrassende verscheidenheid aan kerken, souks en winkels. Amman is een bruisende stad waar het moderne en het traditionele hand in hand gaan. Bovendien is Amman het perfecte startpunt als je de hele omgeving wilt verkennen. Vanuit Amman zijn Jerash, Ajlun, Pella, de Dode Zee en de woestijnkastelen heel gemakkelijk te bereiken.
