AlUla is een stad in de Medina-regio in het noordwesten van Saudi-Arabië. Historisch gezien ligt de stad op de wierookroute, binnen het gouvernement van 'Ula, een van de zeven in de Medina-regio, met een oppervlakte van 29.261 vierkante kilometer (11.298 vierkante mijl). De stad ligt 110 km (68 mijl) ten zuidwesten van Tayma en 300 km (190 mijl) ten noorden van Medina. De stad (gemeente) beslaat 2.391 vierkante kilometer (923 vierkante mijl). De bevolking van de stad is 5.426. AlUla was de hoofdstad van de oude Lihyanieten (Dedanieten). Het gouvernement bevat de eerste UNESCO Werelderfgoedlocatie in het Saoedische Koninkrijk, genaamd Hegra (ook bekend als Al-Hijr, of Mada'in Saleh / Mada'in Salih), 22 km (14 mijl) ten noorden van de stad.
